I might have to revert a couple of the changes since the fix for this has been merged into master of requests. https://github.com/kennethreitz/requests/pull/2193. I'm not sure how long it will take before a release is cut. |

@underscorephil can review this so it can be merged? This will fix of all the CI failures. I'll revert some of the changes whenever a new version of requests is released: https://pypi.python.org/pypi/requests |

This also adds request logging for the rest-based API calls and reduces verbosity of pylint and flake8 so the actual errors are more visible.
