The xrce-dds middleware requires about 100 KB of RAM and the STM32L1 discovery board provides only 32KB.

Just a comment: XRCE-DDS Client can be configured to consume 4 kB or less of RAM. This board is out of the scope because of micro-ROS layers: RCL and/or RMW.
