ci: retire actions/checkout v3.6.0 in deploy/publish workflows - #161
Conversation
Move the 16 remaining v3.6.0 (Node 16 runtime) checkout pins in the deploy and publish workflow family onto the repo-standard v4.3.1 pin (34e114876b0b11c390a56381ad16ebd13914f8d5), already used by 22 other checkout sites. Part of the alignment tracked in #160; the v4.3.1 vs v6.0.2 standard decision and the github-script alignment remain.

🔒 Security & Privacy | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win
Disable checkout credential persistence for the 14 workflows that do not use it.
actions/checkout persists the GitHub token in local Git configuration by default. This job performs no later Git operation that needs checkout authentication, so the token remains available to subsequent commands without a repository-defined need. Add this setting here and to the other five deploy checkouts and eight publish.yml checkouts.

Do not apply this change to publish-github-action.yml, whose later pushes use checkout authentication, or to publish-vscode.yml until its tag-fetch authentication requirement is established.

Partial fix for #160 — the very-simple half.
What
Retires
actions/checkoutv3.6.0 (deprecated Node 16 action runtime) from the deploy/publish family: all 16 uses move to the repo-standard v4.3.1 pin34e114876b0b11c390a56381ad16ebd13914f8d5, which 22 other checkout sites in this repo already use.Files:
deploy.yml,deploy-changelog.yml,deploy-files.yml,deploy-posts.yml,deploy-update.yml,deploy-www.yml,publish-github-action.yml,publish-vscode.yml,publish.yml(×8). Diff is exactly 16 changed lines — pin + version comment only, nowith:inputs touched (checkout v3→v4 keeps the same inputs these workflows use).Verification
grepafter the change: zerov3.6.0pins remain; v4.3.1 count goes 22 → 38.yaml.safe_load).What remains on the origin issue
Deliberately NOT in this PR: choosing the single long-term standard (v4.3.1 vs the v6.0.2 pin used at 3 sites), aligning both sites inside
nix-hashes.yml, and aligningactions/github-script(v7.1.0 ×3 vs v8.0.0 ×1). Those stay tracked on the origin issue for a follow-up pass.Need help on this PR? Tag
