Awesome Emulators

A list of all the emulators for a particular system. Includes honorable and historical mentions as well!

This list will always be kept as complete and up-to-date as possible, but please open an issue if you have any questions/comments/concerns.

Official websites and links to the authors will always be used if possible, otherwise mirrors may be used if they are available.

Quick note: the recommended column is purely subjective and I only use it as a means of answering the question "should/could/would you use it?" or "is there a viable use case or reason for this emulator to be used instead of another?" Please ask yourself what you are using the emulator for and then make an educated decision based on your own research and needs.

Android emulators are in a weird place. A lot of them have had or do have sketchy or weird beginnings or origins. Some of them are essentially wrappers for VirtualBox or Android-x86, or other hypervisor/virtualization software. It is advised you take the usual precautions when dealing with software you've never used or heard of before. Please keep your operating system and software up to date, make sure to have active and updated malware protection and a decent firewall, and don't use cracked or modified versions of the software. Some examples are included below.

NoxPlayer: Affected by a supply-chain attack where attackers replaced legitimate update files with malware, leading to reconnaissance activities and potential infections with other malware.

BlueStacks: Contained vulnerabilities that allowed remote code execution and unauthorized APK installations, affecting versions 4.80 and below.
