Netlify deploy previews have been failing on every pull request since
late September 2026. The Netlify build image now installs Python with
mise 2026.9.14, which requires GitHub artifact attestations, and the
pinned Python 3.8 (3.8.20) has none:
mise ERROR Failed to install core:python@3.8: No GitHub artifact
attestations found for python@3.8.20
Bump the documentation Python version to 3.12 in runtime.txt, the docs
service in docker-compose.yml and the contributing guide.

Netlify deploy previews have been failing on every pull request since late September 2026 (e.g. #12101, #12106).
The deploy log fails during "Initializing", before the docs are built:
The Netlify build image now installs Python with mise, which verifies GitHub artifact attestations for the
python-build-standalone binaries. Python 3.8 (pinned in
runtime.txt) is end-of-life and its last build predatesattestations, so it can no longer be installed.
This bumps the documentation Python version to 3.12 in
runtime.txt, and, as in the previous bump (75ac1d1),also in the
docsservice ofdocker-compose.ymland in the contributing guide.requirements.txtis unchanged.Verification

"(renders identically), and YAML blocks onthe CI pages now get syntax highlighting.
