Description

This is preliminary work to changes to the gRPC interceptor framework: enhancement of the test harness of one of the potentially impacted areas.

User-facing documentation

Testing and quality

  • the change is production ready: the change is GA, or otherwise the functionality is gated by a feature flag
  • CI results are inspected

Automated testing

  • added unit tests

How I validated my change

Manual run of the added tests.

Summary

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Tests
    • Expanded coverage for gRPC authorization policies, including anonymous and deny-all access, identity and role checks, and combined authorizers.
    • Added checks for per-RPC policy selection, interceptor decisions, context and method forwarding, and authorization error handling.
    • Verified allowed and denied outcomes, missing credentials, authorizer evaluation behavior, and policy configuration edge cases across varied contexts and service types.

Tests were added across gRPC authorization packages. They cover authorizer outcomes, identity and role checks, per-RPC selection, error handling, and interceptor behavior.

Changes: gRPC authorization tests

The description includes the required sections, explains the test-focused change, and records validation. The CI inspection checkbox and added unit tests checkbox remain unchecked, but the description is otherwise sufficiently complete.

Full details: Docstring Coverage

Explanation

Docstring coverage is 0.00% which is insufficient. The required threshold is 80.00%. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff with cyclomatic complexity of at least 2. Documentation-only edits and deletions within surviving functions are included; unchanged diff context and fully deleted functions are excluded. Analyzed 17 functions across 8 files.

Resolution

Write docstrings for the functions missing them to satisfy the coverage threshold.

93-93: Trivial · Maintainability & Code Quality · Quick win

Assert the forwarded context and method name in TestOr_ForwardsContextAndMethod.

The test asserts only the call count. recordingAuthorizer ignores both the context and the method name. The test still passes if Or forwards a different context or method name. Record both arguments and assert that they match the inputs.

Review comment at @pkg/grpc/authz/or/or_test.go at line 93:
Update recordingAuthorizer and TestOr_ForwardsContextAndMethod so the recorder
stores the context and method passed to Authorized, then assert both match the
inputs alongside the existing call-count assertion.
