Adds a "Deploying on Pethost" section to Deploying Parse Server, after Back4App, for Pethost's one-click Parse Server template: https://pethost.dev/templates/parse-server/

The template runs parseplatform/parse-server:9.10.4 with MongoDB 8.0 and parseplatform/parse-dashboard:9.2.0 behind one address (the API at /parse). I deployed it: the dashboard signed in as admin with the password entered at deploy and refused another one, the API answered with the app ID from the project's .env, and the same held after a restart.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Documentation
    • Added instructions for deploying the Parse Server template on Pethost, including project setup, Parse Dashboard sign-in, and locating the app server URL.
    • Clarified that APP_ID is used for app configuration and that the .env MASTER_KEY should be restricted to servers.
    • Updated the general deployment guide to include the Pethost instructions.

📝 Walkthrough

The deployment documentation adds Pethost setup instructions, including Dashboard sign-in, the app server URL, and configuration guidance. The Parse Server deployment guide now includes these instructions.

Changes: Pethost deployment documentation

Layer / File(s) Summary
Add and include Pethost instructions
_includes/parse-server/deploying-pethost.md, _includes/parse-server/deploying.md
The new guide describes deploying the Parse Server template, setting a Dashboard password, signing in as admin, and configuring the app URL with APP_ID. It states that MASTER_KEY is for servers only. The deployment guide includes the new instructions.

Priority: ⬇️ Low

Estimated code review effort: 1 (Trivial) | ~5 minutes

Merge Risk: ⚪ Minimal · up to 82fcd

This adds Pethost deployment guidance whose documented setup matches the available template information. No actionable merge-blocking risk remains.

Security architecture risk: 🔵 Low · up to 82fcd

The instructions preserve the server-only master-key boundary, and no security regression was demonstrated. Risk remains limited but unresolved because the hosted template’s credential protection and recovery behavior could not be verified.

Retained concerns
No architecture-level concerns identified.

Security review details

Security Blast Radius

  • inferred — If an attacker obtained a deployed application’s master key, the documented consequence would be bypass of that application’s ACL and class-level protections. No credential exposure or broader tenant, platform or environment compromise was established.

Trust Boundaries and Controls

  • observed — The new instructions preserve the documented separation between client configuration and privileged server credentials. Whether Pethost enforces environment-variable protection and restricts MASTER_KEY access among template services remains unresolved; documentation alone does not establish enforcement.

Resilience and Maintainability Implications

  • observed — The guide specifies initial creation and sign-in but does not define credential ownership, rotation, cleanup or recovery after partial creation, repetition or interruption. The PR description reports successful behavior after restart, which does not resolve those lifecycle guarantees.
