I'm on macOS and I don't have wget by default on my machine. I haven't dove into what this file is for but I'm sure we can use a macOS alternative. I will take another look at this tomorrow evening, and maybe I will be able to push a fix, but wanted to flag here in case an easy solution jumped out to somebody.
Steps To Reproduce
On macOS using lazyvim, add the lazyvim install instructions from the README to your vim config
An error will be thrown when trying to set up the plugin because wget is missing
Expected Behavior
The plugin should complete it's installation and start up a Java development environment
I'm glad that it works. Use this from my fork for now but keep an eye on the original repo. I don't know when s1n7ax will have the opportunity to look at this.
Mind you, I don't have a Mac and I was thinking the same as you. However I googled and found out why people ask this question. Had you googled yourself, you would have known why your comments are annoying. People got a whole bunch of responses like yours while they were asking for something else.

Thanks to the great design @s1n7ax has crafted, it was straight forward to add a new downloader.
@trevorhauter please test my fork and confirm if it works. If you have any other comments, please share them.
Also, could you please make the title more descriptive. This is not a bug, it's feature request.

Same here. The fork worked for me. Lazy config:
{ -- 'nvim-java/nvim-java', 'logrusx/nvim-java', branch = 'add-curl-downloader', config = function() require('java').setup() vim.lsp.enable('jdtls') end, }logrusx commentedon Jan 29, 2026
@gonzaloserrano great, thanks for testing it! I could only test under Linux.

@logrusx This works for me too, thanks so much for the fix. Using the same config noted by @gonzaloserrano

while this is getting merged, you can always brew install wget in the meantime
logrusx commentedon Feb 1, 2026
People who ask for this don't have the ability to use homebrew.
TreyBastian commentedon Feb 1, 2026
I'm not saying it's a good idea to not do this, but I'm adding an alternative option here for those who google the problem.
logrusx commentedon Feb 1, 2026
Those who google the problem will find about homebrew.

The hostility for my attempts to help people find an alternative way to use this plugin while waiting for a PR to be merged is a little disappointing.
