Lecture Notes for MKG3303: Scientific Computing

Kursus ini menerapkan elemen asas bagi komputeran saintifik, khususnya kaedah bagi menyelesaikan atau penghampiran penyelesaian untuk masalah kalkulus dan aljabar linear dalam masalah dunia nyata. Dengan menggunakan masalah model tak-remeh, serta persekitaran komputeran saintifik dan visualisasi, pelajar diperkenalkan kepada konsep asas pengkomputeran bagi keseimbangan, kejituan dan kecekapan. Selain itu, kaedah/teknik analitikal dan berangka baharu diperkenalkan untuk menyelesaikan masalah lebih rumit.

This course presents the basics elements of scientific computing, in particular the methods for solving or approximating the solution of calculus and linear algebra problems associated with real-world problems. Using a non-trivial model problem, and sophisticated scientific computing and visualization environments, students are introduced to the basic computational concepts of stability, accuracy and efficiency. New analytical and numerical methods/techniques are introduced to solve more challenging problems.
