check. Also correct the minReplicasMaxLag unset-value description in the README

yrahman82 NOT LGTM. The new check catches a zero lag, but two other easy mistakes still render and break the instance. The setting itself is fine: the Redis Sentinel docs describe this setup to limit lost writes. The default render is unchanged, make generate with cozyvalues-gen v1.7.0 leaves no diff, and helm unittest passes.
A negative value breaks the operator's healing. The schema only says integer, so minReplicasToWrite: -1 renders min-replicas-to-write -1. Redis 8.4 accepts only 0 and up for both settings, so the operator's CONFIG SET fails. In freshworks-oss v3.3.5, CheckAndHeal applies the custom config (checker.go:203) before it checks the Sentinels. The error then returns early on every cycle, and Sentinel healing for that instance stops. ## @minimum 0 under both params rejects it at admission.
A value equal to replicas or higher blocks all writes. With replicas: 2 and minReplicasToWrite: 2, the master can never see two replicas, so it refuses every write for good. The postgres chart already fails the render when maxSyncReplicas doesn't fit the replica count. The same kind of check here (minReplicasToWrite below replicas) turns this into a clear error.
Both cases need a test. The new suite only covers values that are accepted.

-1 renders here as is, and Redis rejects it at CONFIG SET. A value of replicas or higher renders too and blocks all writes. Details in the review body.

Fixed in fccdd38. ## @minimum 0 on both values, so the schema rejects -1 at admission (checked: minimum: got -1, want 0). The template now fails when minReplicasToWrite is replicas or higher, with a message explaining that the master has replicas-1 replicas. Three new cases cover the two negatives and the unmeetable requirement; helm unittest: 56 passed.

⚠️ Unverified finding
Verification ran but could not confirm this finding. It is shown for review, not as a verified issue.Use schema conditionals instead of template
failfor these constraints. The cross-field rules are in
{{ fail }}calls:minReplicasToWrite < replicasandminReplicasMaxLag >= 1whenminReplicasToWrite > 0.replicashas a schema default of 2. Addminimum: 1onminReplicasMaxLag, which the schema already documents as "at least 1 when set". Cross-field checks such asminReplicasToWrite < replicascannot be expressed in plain JSON Schema. Keep the template check for that rule. Move the lag rule to the schema, for example withif/then. Schema validation runs before rendering and gives earlier errors. One consequence: with
minimum: 1onminReplicasMaxLag, settingminReplicasMaxLag: 0withminReplicasToWrite: 0or unset is rejected. Redis would accept that value. Prefer theif/thenform to keep that case valid.Based on learnings: "prefer declarative input validation via values.schema.json ... over imperative checks with {{ fail ... }} in templates."

yrahman82 NOT LGTM, one new test doesn't check what its name says. The schema minimum on both values and the render check against replicas are right, and helm unittest gives 56 passed on a trial merge with current main. Removing minimum from minReplicasToWrite, or turning the ge into gt, fails the matching new test.
Removing minimum from minReplicasMaxLag fails nothing. The negative-lag case also sets minReplicasToWrite: 1, so the template's lag check refuses it with or without the schema minimum. Without the minimum, minReplicasMaxLag: -1 on its own renders min-replicas-max-lag -1, which is the CONFIG SET failure from my last review. Dropping minReplicasToWrite: 1 from that case makes it test the schema.

yrahman82 NOT LGTM, only because the branch no longer merges. The test fix is right. The negative-lag case now sets only minReplicasMaxLag: -1, and removing ## @minimum 0 from that field turns the test red. make generate with cozyvalues-gen v1.7.0 leaves no diff.
Main moved after your push. #4832 added a sentinel block next to your new fields, so the values, types, schema, deepcopy and cozyrds files conflict. Locally I kept both sides in values.yaml and types.go and ran make generate, and helm unittest passed 66 of 66. Rebase onto main that way and I'll approve.

yrahman82 LGTM, the rebase keeps both sides of the #4832 conflict. The range-diff against 56e6f9a changes nothing but the conflict context. Regenerating with cozyvalues-gen v1.7.0 and controller-gen gives no drift, and helm unittest is 66/66. I dropped the minimum on minReplicasMaxLag again and the negative-lag test still goes red. Main moved since your base only in dashboard files, so nothing changes on merge.
Lets an operator bound the writes lost when an isolated Redis master is failed over: the master refuses writes while fewer replicas than configured are connected and recent. Both values are unset by default, so the rendered Redis config is unchanged. Redis treats 0 in either directive as disabling the check, so the chart refuses minReplicasMaxLag 0 next to a replica requirement instead of silently turning the protection off. Negative values are refused by the schema (minimum 0), since Redis rejects them at CONFIG SET and the operator would stop healing the Sentinels of that instance. A requirement of replicas or more is refused at render: a master with replicas pods has replicas-1 replicas, so it would refuse every write for good. What this PR does
Adds two optional values to the Redis app,
minReplicasToWriteandminReplicasMaxLag, rendered asmin-replicas-to-writeandmin-replicas-max-lagin the RedisFailoverspec.redis.customConfig.Both are unset by default, so the rendered config and behaviour are unchanged for existing instances.
Replication is asynchronous, so a master that is isolated from its replicas keeps accepting writes until Sentinel fails over, and those writes are lost. With
minReplicasToWrite: 1the isolated master stops accepting them afterminReplicasMaxLagseconds, which bounds the loss.Trade-off: with the default
replicas: 2there is a single replica, so the master also refuses writes whenever that replica is down (node drain, restart, upgrade). Users who turn this on accept lower write availability for a bounded loss window.Includes helm-unittest cases and the regenerated schema, README, Go types and ApplicationDefinition.
