Note:
- PHP 8.0+ compatibility was added in CakePHP 4.2+.
- PHP 8.2+ compatibility was added in CakePHP 4.4+.
- PHP 8.3+ compatibility was added in CakePHP 4.5+.
- PHP 8.4+/8.5+ compatibility was added in CakePHP 5.1+.
- PHP 7.4 is the minimum from CakePHP 4.4 onwards.

CakePHP is maintained by volunteers. When we can backport a security fix to an EOL version, we do. We can't promise that for every issue, so if you're on an EOL version, plan to upgrade to the latest 5.x release.
As announced with the 3.x end of life, 4.4 and 4.5 received bug fixes until September 2025 and security fixes until September 2026.
The 4.6 release will continue to have bugfix and security fixes applied until 6.0 releases. These dates are subject to extension based on community feedback and usage.
5.5 and 6.0 don't have release dates yet. Recent 5.x minors have been released 6 to 12 months apart.

- Release bug fixes until September 10 2025 (24 months after 5.0.0). 4.6 continues to receive bug fixes until CakePHP 6.0 has been released.
- Release security fixes until CakePHP 6.0 has been released (TBD).
3.x has reached end of life and it will have no new releases.
- Release bug fixes until December 15 2021 (24 months after 4.0.0).
- Release security fixes until December 15 2022 (36 months after 4.0.0).
2.x has reached end of life and it will have no new releases.
- Release bugfixes until December 15 2020 (12 months after 4.0.0).
- Release security fixes until June 15 2021 (18 months after 4.0.0).
