Restore copied storage for non-character array fields.
get_field creates a borrowed view into the owner. A later ctypes.resize(owner, larger_size) replaces the owner's allocation. The view keeps the owner object, but not the old allocation. Later reads, addressof(view), or writes can dereference freed memory.

The lifetime concern is valid: retaining the owner does not pin its allocation. 3dd15503e clarifies this and the fact that a view's lock does not exclude access through its owner or sibling views.
Compared on Windows (CPython 3.14.6) and Linux (CPython 3.13.5): after growing an already heap-backed owner, both CPython and the fixed RustPython moved the owner buffer while the saved view retained its old address. The probe inspected addresses only, without dereferencing freed memory. This agrees with CPython's resize implementation.
Restoring owned copies would bring back the original bug: the field address would differ from the owner's storage, and FFI/buffer writes would stop updating the owner. A test requiring resize rejection or automatic view migration would also impose behavior absent from the tested CPython versions.
Stronger backing-storage and aliasing protection is recorded as a separate follow-up. Matching CPython does not prove the validity of Rust references; this commit documents the limitation, rather than fixing it.

@1ndahous3 Thanks for the clarification. Restoring owned copies would defeat this PR’s shared-storage requirement. I retract that recommendation. Resize rejection or automatic view migration should not be required solely for CPython compatibility.
The updated safety comments describe the limitation accurately. They do not fix the storage-lifetime or aliasing concern. CPython’s behavior does not establish Rust reference validity.
The remaining safety concern belongs in the separate follow-up you identified. This finding remains open because that concern is still valid, not because copied storage should be restored.

Learning: In RustPython's crates/vm/src/stdlib/_ctypes/base.rs, non-character ctypes array fields must share the containing object's storage so addressof(), FFI calls, and buffer writes access the owner’s memory. Restoring owned field copies breaks this requirement. Retaining the owner does not pin its allocation, and locks on separate views do not synchronize shared storage. CPython compatibility does not establish Rust reference validity; storage-lifetime and aliasing protection require separate analysis.

Snapshot untracked ctypes aliases before memoryview writes
When the destination is created with A.from_address(ctypes.addressof(owner)) (similarly for pointer-derived CData), it has neither a base nor a buffer_source, so root_exporter considers it distinct from owner. This new branch then creates an &mut [u8] over the shared address while setitem_by_slice also borrows owner for reading and calls copy_from_slice; an overlapping assignment such as memoryview(alias).cast("B")[::2] = memoryview(owner).cast("B")[:4] therefore violates Rust's alias/non-overlap requirements and reads bytes already overwritten instead of preserving Python's snapshot semantics. Snapshot the RHS whenever a borrowed destination may have an untracked alias, or perform the copy without simultaneous Rust references.
