can we change line 148 to be
if let Some(dct) = other.downcast_ref::<Pydict>() {
...
}so we won't repeat the same downcast twice?

Updated in 431815b: the dict branch now binds if let Some(dict) = other.downcast_ref::<PyDict>() and passes that borrowed view directly to merge_dict. VM all-target Clippy and the rebuilt interpreter passed, including the two Python frame-locals union-dispatch and dict-subclass cases.

Fix the table borders and the grammar in the module docs.
The border rows on Line 3 and Line 9 use column widths that differ from the content rows on Lines 4–8. Rustdoc shows this table as broken preformatted text. The sentence on Lines 11–12 is ungrammatical, and it appears in the public rustdoc.

Represent PyObjectRef through PyRef<PyObject> while preserving typed ownership, payload projection, and drop behavior. Use the sealed target selector for borrowed set/frozenset union views and typed tuple elements. Keep tuple storage erased behind invariant typed slice views, with checked conversions and reference-count ownership tests. Preserve exact tuple identity for normalized nonempty full slices. Integrate the ownership contract into the public object module documentation and retain focused Rust ownership/layout tests without modifying bundled Lib sources. Spell the set/frozenset union owner directly as PyRef<PyAnySet> without a second owned alias; retain the sealed internal view registration. Assisted-by: OpenAI Codex:model identifier unavailable

Summary
PyObjectRefan alias ofPyRef<PyObject>, sharing ownership, clone/drop, raw transfers, weakref integration and C-API conversions while retaining typed payload projection.AnySetalias and usePyRef<PyAnySet>consistently for owners.PyAnySetis the borrowed view. Registration remains sealed; no public unsafe extension API is added, and user-defined unions are deferred to a future interface.PyAnySetview andPyRef<PyAnySet>owner. Checked conversion accepts set/frozenset subclasses only when their native payload matches; each payload access downcasts the actual alternative. It never assumes that set and frozenset payload layouts are interchangeable.PyTuple<PyRef<T>>API with identical erased storage in every view, invariant type markers and checked typed slices. Nested typed construction/borrowing/erasure works; this does not add recursive checking of arbitrary nested untyped tuples.ArgIterableremains a wrapper because it also stores a cached iterator function.Ownership and representation
Union views are transparent over the erased object header, not fictional
Py<PyAnySet>payloads. Typed tuples always physically contain erased reference storage; typed slice casts reinterpret only transparent reference elements whose invariants are already established. Vector transfers use raw parts and preserve allocation, capacity and exactly-once ownership. Existing allocation vtables, GC traversal and destruction remain erased. The tests cover successful and rejected conversion, borrowed ownership, refcounts, aliasing, nested views and exact-once destruction.Rust API considerations
Unqualified
PyRef::from_rawcan require an explicit type parameter. Generic typed-view code can need aPyRefTarget<Target = Py<T>>bound. RustDebugconsistently uses the allocation's vtable. These source and diagnostic changes are intentional. No performance claim is made.Validation
