A complete security audit of the Intel Processor Microcode Package for Linux was performed. The audit followed a rigorous 7-phase methodology including environment setup, attack surface mapping, vulnerability hunting, deep-dive protocol, business impact scoring, and scope verification.

Key Findings:

  1. [FINDING-001] Potential for Mixed Microcode State during Late Loading: Identified that the non-atomic nature of CPU microcode updates can lead to a system where different cores run different microcode versions if an update partially fails, potentially leaving some cores unmitigated against security vulnerabilities.
  2. [FINDING-002] Lack of Technical Safeguards for Caveat Microcode (BDX-ML): Found that microcode requiring specific kernel patches is separated only by directory and documentation, with no technical checks to prevent unsafe loading on unpatched kernels.

The final report is located in reports/Intel-Linux-Processor-Microcode-Data-Files.md.

This commit adds a comprehensive security audit report following a 7-phase
methodology. The audit identifies a potential "Mixed Microcode State"
during late-loading and a lack of technical safeguards for "caveat"
microcode that requires specific kernel patches.

Changes:
- Created reports/ directory
- Added reports/Intel-Linux-Processor-Microcode-Data-Files.md
