Lists are customizable filters that can help you keep your chats organized. You have four default lists:
You can pin up to three messages to the top of a chat by pressing and holding on that message and selecting ‘pin’. Once pinned, the message stays at the top of the chat as a banner for 24 hours, 7 days, or 30 days. Tap on the pinned message banner to navigate to the message in the chat.
WhatsApp allows you to format text inside your messages, with formatting options such as bolding, italicizing and more.
You can translate messages you’ve sent or received in your chats into available languages. Locations, documents, contacts, stickers, and GIFs can’t be translated. You’ll need a strong WiFi signal or cellular data, and ample storage space to translate.
Open an individual or group chat. To take a photo or video, tap Camera (camera). To attach an existing photo or video, press and hold ‘Attach’ (paper clip) then select photos or videos to share.
You can send large files, without compression, for free on WhatsApp. For documents, the maximum file size allowed is 2 GB.
Video notes on WhatsApp allow you to instantly record and share video notes that are up to 60 seconds long directly in the chat. Video notes cannot be downloaded by the recipient.
WhatsApp voice messaging allows you to instantly communicate with contacts and groups. You can use it to deliver important and time-sensitive information.
You can access stickers in individual and group chats. To view and use stickers, open a chat, then tap the Stickers icon The sticker will be sent as soon as you tap it. Suggested sticker packs from the WhatsApp Sticker Store are shown underneath any downloaded packs. You can tap any of these stickers to send them, or tap Add Sticker Pack to view the whole pack.
You can react to messages in individual and group chats with emojis. You can view all reactions to a message by tapping the emoji below the message. To react to a message, you tap and hold a message and then tap an emoji.
WhatsApp automatically saves audio, video and photos sent to your phone. The Media visibility option is turned on by default. To stop WhatsApp from automatically saving media to your device's local storage you can tap More Options (three vertical dots) > Settings > Chats.
To ensure that WhatsApp works properly, make sure that your phone has storage space available. You can clear up storage space by deleting stored media or chats or freeing up storage on your phone outside of WhatsApp.
