I am a programmer who has worked on the Inkscape project for a number of years. I am asking artists and businesses who use Inkscape to consider supporting the work that I do on Inkscape. I'd like Inkscape's development to be sustainable and I'd like for artists and businesses to have a say in what gets developed in Inkscape. The problem is that only rich companies can afford to hire me directly, and many smaller businesses and most individuals are cut off from having some sort of say in development. This Patreon allows us to bring everyone together and fund the kinds of things that everyone needs. To pool the resources and effectively hire me to work on your behalf so the tools you use get better over time. The more people we can get together, the faster and better the development can get. While all my work on Inkscape will be for everyone to enjoy, the features and priorities of my patrons will be my ultimate priority. Inkscape is free, isn't it? Inkscape is free and always will be. But the process for developing it, improving it, that takes time and money. If Inkscape were complete, fast and compatible with everything then there would be no need to invest in the project. This Patreon should not be considered a payment for Inkscape itself, you are instead funding me as a developer to work for the project so it can get better, faster. The Inkscape project itself is a charity which uses money donated to help the project for the public good through funding expenses and infrastructure.
