Hi, I am a GSSoC 2026 applicant currently exploring webpack internals and its plugin architecture.

While studying webpack and implementing a custom plugin, I noticed that understanding the build lifecycle and debugging processes can be challenging, especially for new contributors.

I also came across discussions and issues related to improving build visibility (such as progress indicators), which suggests there is scope for better developer-facing tooling.

I am currently working on an idea focused on improving developer experience through lifecycle tracking, structured logging, and better build insights.

I wanted to ask:

• Are there specific pain points in debugging or build visibility that developers struggle with the most?
• Would tooling around lifecycle visualization and structured logging be valuable to the community?
