[Bug]: marked text is erased when pressing ctrl key #4145
Description
What did you do?
not always, but sometime.
Ubuntu 22.04
this is very annoying as I need to pay lot of attention for not accidently destroying the sql which is written and marked for copy.
Anyone also having this issue ? any suggestion ?

marked text say unchanged when just pressing ctrl key

marked text SOMETIME disappears

What exactly are you doing? Please make your issue reproducible.

hi there. Thanks for your answer and apologies for the delay (my email reply bounced back)
1- open db browser with some sql
2- mark a word (with mouse clicks)
3- press ctrl key (only); then unmark (by clicking elsewhere in text)
4- alt+tab to go to scite, Paste the marked text (ctrl+v)
5- back to db browser. Mark a word with Mouse clicks
6- Press ctrl : the word disappears
another one (probably same bug)
1- open db browser with some sql; also open scite next to it so that you see both windows
2- mark a word in sql text (with mouse clicks). Do not unmark
3- mouse click to select the Scite window : the word in db browser is gone
Using alt+tab does the same but if windows are full screen you will not see it until it is gone.... which is sooo painful.
It has not always been like that and has appeared a while back.
This is ubuntu 22.04.
I have no reason to believe the behavior is the same with another plateform
I could also be tied specifically to my machine (though i am not aware of anything special on my environment, except the keys ctrl and alt are swapped at bios level -- this is a feature on my lenovo)
Also, i do experience this ONLY with DB Browser.
(which by the way I love so much....)
Of course this is soooo annoying as it requires so much attention when working.

@fredrich Hi, did you ask for a reponse from me that I Missed ?
I am traveling extensively until the end of 2026 so I may have missed this...
Please repost and i'll check here within the next 2 weeks.
This bug is still here, it is really annoying
