I updated the code to replace BlockingIOError with EAGAIN to make the code more regular/less surprising.

Thanks. I wish we had a more cleaner way to know what to ignore in general. Can you add the references (as a comment on the PR) where you found about it? or is an empiric finding? No need to add it inside the sources but just so that we know where to look at in the future...

Without this change, _create() fails with a BlockingIOError exception on Cygwin. I checked the errno and I found that it's EAGAIN.

Alternatively, you can maybe add a regression test to exercise the error code?

I don't see an existing test for getpeername() failure code path in SSLSocket._create(). Writing such test sounds tricky and may rely on internal implementation details. I prefer to skip the test for now.
