Welcome to the second edition of the Pro Git book.

Like the first edition, the second edition of Pro Git is open source under a Creative Commons license.
A couple of things have changed since open sourcing the first edition. For one, we’ve moved from Markdown to the amazing AsciiDoc format for the text of the book; here’s an AsciiDoc quick reference.
We’ve also moved to keeping the translations in separate repositories rather than subdirectories of the English repository. See the translating document for more information.
You can generate the e-book files manually with Asciidoctor. If you run the following you may actually get HTML, Epub, Mobi and PDF output files:
$ bundle install $ bundle exec rake book:build Converting to HTML... -- HTML output at progit.html Converting to EPub... -- Epub output at progit.epub Converting to Mobi (kf8)... -- Mobi output at progit.mobi Converting to PDF... -- PDF output at progit.pdf
You can generate just one of the supported formats (HTML, EPUB, mobi, or PDF). Use one of the following commands:
To generate the HTML book:
$ bundle exec rake book:build_html
To generate the EPUB book:
$ bundle exec rake book:build_epub
To generate the mobi book:
$ bundle exec rake book:build_mobi
To generate the PDF book:
$ bundle exec rake book:build_pdf
Before signaling an issue, please check that there isn’t already a similar one in the bug tracking system.
Also, if this issue has been spotted on the git-scm.com site, please cross-check that it is still present in this repo. The issue may have already been corrected, but the changes have not been deployed yet.

Hallo en welkom by die amptelike Afrikaanse vertalingsprojek vir die Pro Git-boek! Alhoewel die wêreld van sagteware-ontwikkeling internasionaal hoofsaaklik in Engels gedryf word, glo ons daar is geweldige waarde daarin om komplekse tegniese konsepte in jou moedertaal te leer en te bemeester. Hierdie projek is met trots geskep vir die breër Afrikaanse IT-gemeenskap, van studente wat pas hul eerste stappe met weergawebeheer neem tot ervare sagteware-ingenieurs wat hul fundamentele kennis wil opskerp.
Ons benadering tot hierdie vertaling is baie prakties en streef na hoë gehalte sonder om onnatuurlik te klink.
Ons doel is om die "hoekom" en die "hoe" van Git in duidelike, suiwer Afrikaans oor te dra.
Om ons taalgebruik professioneel en konsekwent te hou, probeer ons om die Afrikaanse Woordelys en Spelreëls (AWS) sowel as die riglyne op viva-afrikaans.org so ver moontlik as ons standaard te gebruik.
Tegelykertyd besef ons dat sagteware-ontwikkelaars daagliks met spesifieke bedryfsterme werk. Daarom behou ons tegniese opdragte soos commit, push, merge en pull onvertaald, sodat dit presies ooreenstem met dit wat jy in jou terminaal of IDE intik.
Vir hierdie vertalings het ons as hoofbron gebruik gemaak van die Kuberwoordeboek / Cyber Dictionary (2006, Protea Boekhuis), onder redaksie van prof. H.C. Viljoen, in medewerking met prof. N.F. du Plooy en S. Murray. Dit is 'n uitstekende tweetalige (Afrikaans-Engels) naslaanwerk vir rekenaarwetenskap en tegniese IT-vertalings. Ons beveel hierdie woordeboek sterk aan vir enigiemand wat betrokke wil raak by tegniese vertaalwerk in Afrikaans; dit is 'n onontbeerlike hulpmiddel om terminologie akkuraat en konsekwent te vertaal.
Hierdie is 'n lewendige oopbron-gemeenskapsprojek, en ons nooi jou hartlik uit om saam te bou. Of jy nou 'n hele hoofstuk wil aanpak, 'n spelfout wil regmaak, of net die vloei van 'n tegniese verduideliking wil verbeter, jou hulp is van onskatbare waarde. Jy is altyd welkom om 'n Issue of 'n Pull Request direk hier op GitHub oop te maak met voorstelle of regstellings.
