This is a known issue that several users have reported after March 1st. Here are a few things to check:

Immediate steps:

1. Check your billing cycle date. Go to Settings → Billing & plans → Plans and usage. The reset date isn't always the 1st of the month
   — it's based on when you first activated the free plan. Your cycle might reset on a different date (e.g., March 5th or later).
2. Sign out and sign back in. Copilot caches your usage status locally. In VS Code:
   - Click your profile icon → Sign out of GitHub
   - Restart VS Code
   - Sign back in
3. Check the Copilot settings page directly. Go to https://github.com/settings/copilot and see what it shows for your current usage and
   reset date.

If it still doesn't reset:

• This could be a server-side delay. GitHub has had intermittent billing sync issues recently. Waiting 24-48 hours sometimes resolves
  it automatically.
• Try disabling and re-enabling the Copilot Free plan:
  a. Go to Settings → Copilot → Cancel
  b. Wait a few minutes
  c. Re-enable the Free plan

I have the same issue, my March's quote just being skipped and I have to wait till mid April. :/

Same issue, was due to reset on 20th March but did not. Copilot page on github.com showing 101% code completions and 88% Chat messages so it is not a VS Code issue. Tried suggested reset steps to no avail.

This has been hitting a bunch of people, not just you. The reset date gets pushed forward by a month instead of actually resetting the quota. It's a backend bug on GitHub's side that's been popping up since late 2025.

A few things to try before opening a ticket:

First, double-check your actual reset date. Go to https://github.com/settings/copilot and look at when it says the next reset is. It's not always the 1st of the month, it's based on when you first activated the free plan.

If the date already passed and nothing happened:

1. Go to Settings > Copilot, cancel the Free plan
2. Wait 5-10 minutes
3. Re-enable it

This forces a fresh billing cycle and has fixed it for some people. Your completions and chat counts should reset.

If that doesn't work either, open a ticket at https://support.github.com under Copilot > Billing. Mention the specific reset date that was skipped and that multiple users are reporting the same thing (link this discussion). That usually gets it escalated faster than a generic "my quota is wrong" ticket.
