Description

After upgrading to OrbStack v2.2.0 today, OrbStack fails to start with the error:

start VM: timed out waiting for VM to start

OrbStack was working correctly on v2.1.3 before the upgrade. The upgrade was applied via the in-app updater.

Environment

• OrbStack version: 2.2.0 (2020000)
• macOS version: macOS 15 (Darwin 25.5.0)
• Hardware: Apple Silicon (M1 MacBook Pro)

Steps to reproduce

1. Upgrade from v2.1.3 to v2.2.0 via in-app updater
2. OrbStack attempts to start and displays: start VM: timed out waiting for VM to start
3. OrbStack never starts

What I've tried

• Restarted OrbStack multiple times
• Restarted Mac
• Reinstalled OrbStack v2.2.0 fresh (downloaded new DMG and dragged to Applications)
• None of the above resolved the issue

Impact

This is critical — I have multiple local DDEV projects with databases that are only accessible via OrbStack volumes. I cannot access them until OrbStack is working again.

Request

Please either:

1. Provide a fix or hotfix for v2.2.0
2. Provide a download link for v2.1.3 so I can downgrade while waiting for a fix
