<p>Scales define the distribution of data values on an axis, e.g. a log scaling.</p>
<p>They are attached to an <a class="reference internal" href="axis_api.html#matplotlib.axis.Axis" title="matplotlib.axis.Axis"><code class="xref py py-obj docutils literal notranslate"><span class="pre">Axis</span></code></a> and hold a <a class="reference internal" href="transformations.html#matplotlib.transforms.Transform" title="matplotlib.transforms.Transform"><code class="xref py py-obj docutils literal notranslate"><span class="pre">Transform</span></code></a>, which is
responsible for the actual data transformation.</p>
