graphics contexts must implement to serve as a matplotlib backend</p>

<dd>The base class for all of the matplotlib event
handling. Derived classes suh as <a class="reference internal" href="#matplotlib.backend_bases.KeyEvent" title="matplotlib.backend_bases.KeyEvent"><code class="xref py py-class docutils literal"><span class="pre">KeyEvent</span></code></a> and
<a class="reference internal" href="#matplotlib.backend_bases.MouseEvent" title="matplotlib.backend_bases.MouseEvent"><code class="xref py py-class docutils literal"><span class="pre">MouseEvent</span></code></a> store the meta data like keys and buttons
pressed, x and y locations in pixel and
