# allocate

**Microsoft Specific**

The **`allocate`** declaration specifier names a data segment in which the data item will be allocated.

## Syntax

> **`__declspec(allocate("`** *segname* **`))`** *declarator*

## Remarks

The name *segname* must be declared using one of the following pragmas:

## Example
