stylex-evaluator

Part of the StyleX SWC Plugin workspace

Overview

Pure utility functions for JS expression evaluation — expression traversal, value extraction, and type coercion helpers used by the transform layer. This crate was extracted so that evaluation helpers with no StateManager dependency can be reused by stylex-css and tested in isolation from the full transform pipeline. Every function is stateless and side-effect-free, operating only on SWC AST nodes and primitive values.

  • Binary expression evaluation — evaluate_bin_expr handles arithmetic (+, -, *, /, %, **), bitwise (|, ^, &), and shift (<<, >>, >>>) operators on f64 values
  • Hashing utilities — create_hash (Murmur2 → base-36), create_short_hash (base-62, 5-char max), and stable_hash (generic DefaultHasher) for deterministic class name generation
  • AST helpers — get_expr_from_var_decl, normalize_expr, wrap_key_in_quotes for SWC node manipulation
  • Numeric utilities — round_f64, hash_f64, sort_numbers_factory for float-safe operations
  • Collection helpers — find_and_swap_remove for O(1) vector removal, char_code_at for Unicode code-point access
  • Node.js integration — resolve_node_package_path resolves package paths with CommonJS / ESM support
