Golf blitz is an amazing game. It would be my favorite game ever, but it makes me so mad. I rage in basically every round, because some bum decides to hit me off the map, or everyone’s shot but mine goes in the right place. But my biggest complaint is the matchmaking. When you join a game, you will be matched with people who have the same amount of trophies as you. This is unfair, because you will have a level 11 in the same game as a level 33, or something like that. Every time you level up, you get to upgrade a skill, such as speed, power, accuracy, or cool down. So if someone is 22 levels higher than someone else, they will be able to go faster, further, more accurate, and have to wait less than the other person. This is extremely unfair because you have people with barely any experience and skills that aren’t leveled up, vs someone who is extremely experienced and has leveled-up skills. Also, when you reach level 25, you get to start with more elixir, which you use to get power ups in-game. So with unfair matchmaking, one person will get to start with a power up, and another person will have to wait. Also, when you are done with the match you are in, you will earn trophies that are distributed to you from other people for winning, lose trophies that are then distributed to other people for losing, both. Instead, there should be a set amount of trophies for each person, like +50 for 1st place, +25 for 2nd, -25 for 3rd, and -50 for fourth. This is one of my favorite games I have ever played, but it is impossible not to rage and want to delete the game.

Golf Blitz is one of the few Mobile Online-Multiplayer games that I’ve played that is not formatted to be a complete cash-grab, P2W mess. I’m writing this review after the devs just released an update to make the endgame less of a grind, and I think this type of behavior from studios should be praised. Especially when compared to other games, where updates are often released to achieve the opposite effect. The game is still pay-to-win, but it’s significantly more reasonable to get your account to a competitive level than in other mobile games in the same genre. For reference, I’ve been playing for about 6 months and spent about $10, and gotten myself to the level 40 range where you can play at a competitive level every season. As for the actual gameplay, well: it is simple, but I think it works really well for the casual mobile format. At times, it can get stale and you can get frustrated with some situations you don’t have control over or that seem luck based. But I find myself coming back to it for quick matches almost every day. The devs release updates with more content on a fairly quick basis. The playerbase is also active, and you won’t find yourself playing against bots as you might in other games (outside of the very early game).

This game is one of the best I’ve played in awhile but there are a few major flaws that if fixed could make this an even better game. Some of them include the match making. It seems solely based on trophies and unfortunately it doesn’t work as intended. I definitely should not be playing level 30+ as a level 15 regardless of how many trophies I have. The higher level players have a huge advantage through the skill level and it just gets on my nerves. There have been times playing against higher level players and they will just uses there short cooldown and powerful hit speed to continuously hit me in the water before I can even get a shot off. This just ruins the experience. Now that may not be directly the games fault that they are doing that but they wouldn’t be able to if we were the same level. Another issue is that whenever I go to log in even with perfect internet it always gives me a log in issue. I have to retry multiple times or even delete and reinstall that app before I can play. The final problem I have with this game is that I have 25+ extra hats or outfits that I can’t do anything with. I should be able to use them for Exp or unlocking a different character because it’s completely useless when I have all those extras. In conclusion this is a great game but these issues can make the game very frustrating so please consider fixing these.
