Great time saver when soliciting information. The information is informative and so far pretty accurate. The intuitive suggestion as to research further information is really helpful. A very useful tool.

Great assistant, but New Zealand is not Australia

I find myself dual-wielding Gemini and Claude depending on need. Gemini excels in fast search-based queries (“which bars near me serve zero alcohol beer”) and is passable at analysis. I’d probably use it more if Google provided an integrated app on macOS but they’ve chosen to die on the Google “web or it didn’t exist” hill. However! The chat function has real problems with voice recognition, perhaps related to accents defaulting to Australian for us New Zealanders. When trying to fix it, it gaslights you by saying it’s a problem with your regional settings (rather than, say, Google’s amazing hubris and a lack of New Zealand regionalisation). “3” and “6” sound nothing alike and the app team should be embarrassed it’s making comprehension errors technology solved 5 years ago.
