Recently introduced aggressive advertising in Trucaller search is now almost supporting fraud. The ad window is designed exactly similar as fraudulent website links are designed. It makes you unintentionally click links you don't even want to and results in unwarranted downloads. I have tried several time in waiting for 30 seconds before the ad window stabilizes and X mark is visible to close. However most often even a careful click on X results in the content or app download. That is not by chance but design. It is sad that an app that is designed to help users prevent unnecessary calls, fraudulent calls or messages is now itself creating opportunities for unwarranted and unintended clicks resulting in unwarranted download.
They have blocked all feature behind subscription wall

Lately I got to know that Trucaller doesn’t block any spam calls unless you subscribe to their premium at 100 rupees per month or 1000 rupees per month for premium+ (god knows if anyone even pays that) even though this wasn’t the case before. I have been using TC for more than a decade, but now that they are basically scamming by the virtue of false advertising, their app no longer deserves to be on my phone and they don’t have a right to process my data. The most basic feature that people used truecaller was for blocking spam calls but now they have blocked this feature behind their pay wall. Their search used to work but now it doesn’t as you will only be able to see the details of the number if the person is a friend of a friend and has true caller. Their search used app is useless even with the subscription because of the reasons I just mentioned. Also, the silliest thing, they want you to refresh the spam list every month which requires you to watch an advertisement (but there are ads every time you open the app and when you search of a number) but refreshing the spam list does nothing because the calls are not blocked unless you subscribe to premium at 100 rupees per month.

Tried product again and brought one of their plans yesterday. And have Received two spam calls since morning. And now filtering / spam alert by truecaller. Asking apple for refund. ————Previous review:tried one month paid as i was fed up with spam calls. but spam detection does not work. i know that i can say “siri search true caller” but it is same as picking the unknown phone and usually within 5 secs i can identify a spam call being on call. siri also take around same time. but sometimes siri shortcut does not work, and due to this i always pick call and identify my self. suggestion if you want this to work on ios, the limited blocked list that you keep on ios to check if spam or not, should be user targeted. i am in blr and get lots of spam on loan and properties. blocked list on my device should foucs on these. i think this is highly monetizable product. you can save me 120 times a month from getting distracted saving me quite a few hrs. and i am ready to pay 100 for this if done right.

The app asks to access your contacts which basically form their database to perform caller ID search. And in return, they are trying every bit to make you subscribe them. If I am allowing them to access my contacts and contribute to their database (which forms the backbone of their operation), they should at least allow me to look for caller IDs even if is in return of watching an advertisement. Their frustration with non-subscriptions has gone to such a level that they have limited the number of searches per day for a user (even in return of watching an advertisement which is allowing them with a revenue stream). While this app is not a social service and needs money to operate, using customers’ contacts to support their database without offering them any significant value is not justified and a probable gateway to losing the success / popularity they achieved in recent years. Not recommending this app with their current business model.
