This is a fantastic service provided by Leitrim Library Services. Being an avid reader it has given me the opportunity to keep up with my favourite source of escapism during a time when it would have not been possible to do with so many shops & my local library being closed. I have highly recommend this to so many people & will continue to. & it is definitely a service I will continue to use to my great pleasure. Thank You to my local librarian Karen Lonican for recommending this to me & for going to no end of trouble helping to set it up. Because I have the app downloaded to my phone I am always guaranteed to have my favourite pass time at hand no matter where I am. I am one very satisfied & happy customer.
The brilliance of BorrowBox
Walking_lines
BorrowBox is the best app I ever downloaded. It has allowed me to read so many books I would never have bought and as it is always in my pocket I can reach for them at any time of the day or night. While I have found it super hard to focus on reading, audiobooks are a perfect solution and the variety available have given me the freedom to both explore more and decide that I really don’t have to finish everything I start.During such a potentially isolating time as covid, BorrowBox has been both friend and companion in my pocket.
Didn’t work on the first day🤷🏻♀️
LoafersWithWhiteSocks
Couldn’t log in with my library details. Also, the app contains misleading information about me having to change my password (library PIN) because my library “has switched to a new system”, which I did, and it didn’t work, cuz god knows how long this message has been on there… probably since they introduced PINs a couple years ago. Anyway it’s impossible to log in with or without a pin, with either an old pin or a new one. And the help option only works with iPhones standard mail app?? That’s just the last drop.UPD: It just worked the next day🤷🏻♀️ Random? Yes. But the app seems to be working fine and the choice of books is great.

Great app but still a few issues to fix…
Juliet#335
This really is a great app and a great service offering from Dublin City Libraries and has been invaluable during the pandemic. There are a few issues though which can make it frustrating to use. Firstly, recently I’ve found that it doesn’t save your page on an audio book. When I stop listening and close app, it used to automatically resume where I had stopped whereas now it resumes where I had started listening last time, not where I stopped listening. When I open the app and go into my loans, it shows the correct time remaining but once I open the audiobook it skips back to where I had started listening last time I opened it. This is really annoying because I have to figure out where I stopped listening and manually find it again before I can resume listening. I’ve sent feedback using get form on the app but received no response and the fault is still there.Secondly, also frustratingly, the search function is pretty much useless. If I put in an author’s name, then it gives me every result with either that author’s first name or surname in no particular order and some results which contain neither. For instance a search for John le Carre would bring up every author with either a John or a le or a carre or anything similar in his/her name and John le Carre results won’t necessarily be at the top or all together but randomly scattered throughout. It means that reliably searching for an author with a relatively common first name or surname like Kohn, Anne, Elizabeth, David etc is almost impossible. Thirdly, while not a fault, I miss the functionality on kindle which lets you select a word and link to an online dictionary/thesaurus/translator and think it would enhance the experience. It would be great if these issues (esp the first and second) were fixed as it would remove the frustration from an otherwise very pleasurable and smooth experience. Thank you
