So far the experiences of using notability for school’s note-taking is good, but there are also some parts of it can be improved.1) First, the page setting. I think notability can add the page setting like OneNote, which provides unlimited extended sheet for users to jot notes. Here are the reasons. When I was taking the lecture, some lecture notes are originally full of text in the pdf file. After I inserted the pdf into Notability, it lacks of space for me to jot down the notes in Notability. Therefore, if Notability can add the setting like OneNotes for users to jot down the notes right next to the pdf is extremely useful and convenience for the users, especially for the students.2) Second, I think the function of adding new pages can be more convenient. Recent version of adding new pages need the users to press the top right corner first, and then press the “3 dots” nearby the page to add the page. This actions leads the users feel inconvenience when they had the sudden thoughts need to jot down, such as when taking the lectures. Sometimes, the lecturer go through the notes very quick and no time for the students to do these “complex” actions to just add a new page to write down some notes. Above all, although there are still some places to improve, the application is still great and worthy for the users to pay the one-off purchase to use it. Hope the team of project management of Notability could hear the advices of what I am saying and keep improving and provide the excellent services for us.

Notability remains my favorite app on iPad as it does everything I need, i.e. note-taking, search, view two notes side-by-side, iCloud sync with iPhone and Mac, other cloud storage backup, etc. However, I want to suggest some features which I’d love to have, which should it an even better tool for studying!1. Grid view/ light box view of pages (instead of only stripe view)- this will help for quickly overviewing my entire notes- i currently import PDFs (converted from PowerPoint) to Notability for note taking in class, as I like to consolidate everything in this app). In this case, if I have a long note with many pages, I’d like a faster way to viewing them. Instead of just filtering the bookmarked pages.- a grid view, like printing 4-9 pages on A4 paper would be great2. jump (navigate) to a specific page- continue to above case, if I have a long note, I’d like to go to a specific page really quickly. Not sure if I missed this function or not, I just can’t find it.- so now I need to scroll through the long stripe to go to that page3. battery life on Mac- it seems to use a lot of battery on my Mac- I wonder why... is it due to iCloud sync?Nevertheless, I love this app, and I use it everyday for my study. Hope it will get even better! I’m willing to pay if there will be some more advanced features in future! (Need to make sure my current notes will keep working of course.)

I have been using Notability for a month and generally happy with it. But I have two complaints about it.1) the folder system is too old fashion and not suit my need. I need to generate many folders and folders within folder to classify my files. In Notability they only offer two folder ties. I wrote to Notability and they said they will keep this.2) if you have a password protected pdf, it will be blanked after export to Notability. Another note taking apps can open perfectly and it will ask password for once. Notability seems not notice there is password protect pdf. If you are looking for voice recording, Notability is your only choice.
