Krishna K. liked thisKrishna K. liked this"5 Software Engineering anti-patterns that hold careers back" Watch my new video free: https://lnkd.in/gwrMz3cX We just released a new video breaking down 5 engineering Anti-Patterns that hold careers back. We often try to force rigid engineering logic onto soft skills. But the reason I love the term Anti-Pattern for these behaviors is that - just like in code - they often seem like good solutions at first. They are "logical" traps that quietly sabotage our success later. Whether you call them "anti-patterns" or just "human bugs," these are the 5 habits I see trapping engineers the most: 1️⃣ The Knowledge Silo The Trap: Keeping critical system info in your head to ensure quality control. The Reality: You become a bottleneck. If you are the only one who can fix it, you can never go on vacation (or get promoted). 2️⃣ The Hero Complex The Trap: Swooping in at the last minute to save a failing deployment. The Reality: Heroics feel good, but they hide the fact that the ship is leaking. We need resilient systems, not individual martyrs. 3️⃣ Over-Engineering The Trap: Building a Ferrari when the customer needs a skateboard. The Reality: "Premature optimization is the root of all evil." If you build for a future that hasn't happened yet, you're wasting today's resources. 4️⃣ The Inability to Delegate The Trap: "It’s just faster if I do it myself." The Reality: This is the #1 limit on senior growth. If you don't trust your team to do it 90% as well as you, you scale nothing but your own burnout. 5️⃣ The Invisible Engineer The Trap: Keep your head down, code hard, and expect the work to speak for itself. The Reality: If no one knows what you're working on, you can't influence the direction of the product. This is another episode in my Effective Software Engineering series shipped with Google for Developers. I hope you're finding it helpful! #programming #softwareengineering #lifeatgoogle

Krishna K. liked thisKrishna K. liked thisI’ve studied some of the most successful people across industries. And I noticed something surprising: It’s not the smartest who win. It’s not even the hardest workers. The real winners are those who know how to think creatively under pressure — and turn uncertainty into opportunity. Because in a world that changes overnight, doing more isn’t enough. You have to learn how to see differently. Here are 4 traits I keep finding in people who consistently turn ambition into achievement 👇 1. Curiosity That Breaks Patterns ↳ They never stop questioning the obvious. ↳ While others follow the rules, they ask, “What if the rules are wrong?” 2. Courage to Start Imperfectly ↳ They don’t wait for perfect timing or complete certainty. ↳ They start small, fail fast, and learn faster. 3. Flexibility That Fuels Growth ↳ They’re not attached to a single plan. ↳ When reality changes, they adapt — without ego slowing them down. 4. Vision That Outruns Fear ↳ They imagine possibilities others can’t see yet. ↳ And they take bold steps while everyone else hesitates. Success isn’t built on what you know. It’s built on how boldly and creatively you apply it. The future doesn’t reward those who stay safe. It rewards those who are willing to think differently, act decisively, and keep moving. What’s one creative risk that changed the direction of your career? ♻️ Share this to remind someone that creativity isn’t just art — it’s strategy. #innovation #personalgrowth #leadershipdevelopment

Krishna K. liked thisKrishna K. liked thisDid you know that cool AI assistant tools like Gemini CLI, Codex, and Claude Code are built with React? 💡 🤓 You would wonder how React components are being rendered in the terminal. Well, this is made possible through the package called Ink (https://lnkd.in/gBF6Y7bE) which itself uses Meta's OSS project Yoga (https://lnkd.in/gv5CnqEv) - a portable layout engine targeting web standards. So basically, your React skills can now power AI terminal applications. Pretty wild if you ask me. Gemini CLI is a great open source project. Web devs can contribute to it if looking for OSS contributions. It's a solid way to get involved in the AI tooling space while using familiar tech. What's your favorite AI coding assistant tool? Krishna K. liked thisKrishna K. liked thisEarly in my career I lost the best analyst I had on my team.. They were right to leave, they had a better offer. The better offer – 15% salary increase. The tragedy was that they had been in their role for a while and totally deserved a salary increase anyway, but the company couldn't afford it at the time. That’s when I learnt the true cost of losing a top performer: 1. Knowledge and skills lost 2. Impact on the team until a new person is hired 3. The time spent in finding a new person (and the risk of hiring the wrong one) 4. The time it takes to onboard the new team member 5. ... Add all these factors up, and the cost is way more than the 15% increase they could have gotten. Since then, I've always tried to do everything I could to retain my team members, by creating growth opportunities and making work enjoyable. But in the end of the day, there are bills to pay and people are forced to make tough decisions, even leaving a good team with great opportunities. Companies – losing top talent can be more costly than retaining them..

On 24th May 2025, I was recognized by The Global AI organization as one of the Top 30 Leaders in HR & L&D, during a prestigious ceremony held in Delhi NCR as part of the AI World Summit Asia – HR & L&D 30 Power List. This recognition is deeply meaningful, not just because of the title, but also because of the other organizations that I shared the stage with. The winners' list included exceptional HR leaders from some of the most admired organizations globally. Getting group.one and one.com's names amongst these industry giants filled me with immense pride and that is something I have always thrived for. This is not just a personal achievement, it reflects the collective excellence, collaboration, and culture of innovation that all of us at group.one strive to nurture. My heartfelt thank to each and every colleague (right from top leadership to newest member who joined group.one). To mention few, the leadership team of group.one, leadership team at one.com India, leadership team of P&C, my P&C team at RoW, all of you have been phenomenal. EdTech 1.0 never had a learner problem. It had a CAC problem. Education DPI is about to change that math. Here's how I see it. India's education DPI standardizes three things: → Student identity (APAAR ID) → Course discovery (ONEST, built on the Beckn protocol) → Verifiable credentials (DigiLocker, Academic Bank of Credits) Onboarding, discovery and credentialing become low-cost public utilities. That is not free demand. You still have to earn the learner. But the plumbing is no longer your cost. Christensen called this the Law of Conservation of Attractive Profits. In his words: "when modularity and commoditization cause attractive profits to disappear at one stage in the value chain, the opportunity to earn attractive profits with proprietary products will usually emerge at an adjacent stage." DPI commoditizes the base layer. So the margin moves up. The filter Let's be precise. DPI does not make switching costs zero. It makes data lock-in zero. When a learner's ID, records and credentials are portable, nobody stays because their certificate is stuck inside your app. ✕ Thin wrappers that host content or hold certificates hostage lose their only moat. Mediocre tools will churn. ✓ Products that own a real workflow keep their switching costs. Earned, not trapped. And they inherit near-zero onboarding cost. You can't outspend this. You have to out-deliver. Where the margin moves 1. Institutional middleware Most colleges and schools don't have the engineers to integrate with APAAR, ABC and state registries. Middleware that connects legacy campus ERPs to the DPI stack.. credit transfer, compliance, reporting.. is a real business. 2. Instant skill verification Degree checks are still slow and manual. An API that verifies credentials from inside the employer's ATS in seconds replaces weeks of back and forth. 3. Consent-based learner financing Adult learners in skilling programs often have no credit history. With explicit consent, verified learning records can become a credit signal. Adults only. Consent first, the Account Aggregator way. No quiet monitoring of children's data. DPDP is clear on that, and it should be. 4. AI that plugs into the rails IMHO the biggest one. Tutoring and assessment that reads a consented, portable learner record, adapts to the student, and writes verified progress back. The moat is learning outcomes, not stored data. The takeaway If your moat is trapped data, DPI will take it away. If your moat is workflow depth and measurable ROI, DPI just cut your onboarding cost to near zero. Which of these four gets built first in India? Curious what builders and investors here think. #EdTech #DigitalPublicInfrastructure #B2BSaaS

Working on AI agents lately, one realisation I have is prompts ≠ governance. You can tell a model “Don’t do this” but once it starts calling APIs control gets blurry fast. Really like this Microsoft’s Agent Governance Toolkit. It finally adds a real “stop” where it matters. Feels like we’re moving from “hey it works” to “we trust it.” https://lnkd.in/g9xXS4XN

This caught my eye because Malayalam, my mother tongue, is used as one of the examples to illustrate the “tokenizer tax.” Great look at how the way AI models tokenize different languages can affect both cost and capability. Language representation in AI goes well beyond simply being able to understand a language. https://lnkd.in/gMzzTxSd

For the past several months, my team has been working in a slightly different way — and only recently did I pause to reflect on how meaningful that shift actually is. AI tools are no longer just experimental or reserved for pilots and hackathons; they are becoming a fundamental part of our daily processes. This transition to treating AI as a baseline technology has transformed the nature of our work. My team has shifted left in utilizing AI—integrating it earlier in design, development, and validation. This has led to a corresponding increase in velocity, with speed and confidence becoming more apparent downstream. In a data‑centric world, success depends on clarity at every layer — clean schemas, predictable pipelines, and minimal transformation friction. When data workflows are brittle or ambiguous, AI doesn’t fail loudly; it delivers diluted or misleading results. Our progress in this phase has not stemmed from pursuing every new tool but from rethinking how our workflows operate from start to finish, with discipline, intent, and a systems mindset. The key takeaway for me is that AI does not replace engineering rigor; instead, it elevates the standards we must uphold. #AINativeEngineering #AIEngineering #GenAI #AIWorkflows #EngineeringLeadership
